| 1. M. Matanna (1317 m)
Mt. Matanna is the highest peak of Southern Apuane
Alps: green woods, prairies of altitude, and breathless
views to the sea.
From Tre Scolli (526 m) we walk to S. Rocchino (800
m), Foce del Pallone (1080 m) and finally we reach
the peak of Mt. Matanna 1317 m). Back to Tre Scolli
with a ring itinerary. Possibility of a rest to Refuge
Forte dei Marmi.

| 1 bis. M. Procinto
Mt. Procinto, impressive rocky tower set near the
overhanging face of Mt. Nona, is one of most famous
place of Apuane. Various and nice itinerary, through
chess-nut woods and rocky paths.
From Stazzema (520 m) we arrive to Refuge Forte dei
Marmi (852 m) walking on a nice path through chess-nut
woods. Then we reach Callare del Matanna (1130 m)
and we go back to the starting point.

| 2. Grotta all’Onda
The Camaiore Valley is a nice forested place with
clear fresh streams and ancient caves, and has been
inhabited since prehistorical age. This easy walk
follows the traces of prehistoric men to Grotta all’Onda,
one of the most suggestive archaeological areas of
Versilia.
From Casoli (406 m) we walk to Tre Scolli (526 m)
and to Grotta all’Onda (500 m), following an
old path through cultivated fields and oaks woods.
Descent on ancient paved path. We can eventually have
a rest near a nice stream for a fresh bath. Back to
Casoli, possibility of a snack in the village.

| 3. Colonnata Colonnata
(350 m) is a village set near Carrara, among marble
quarries, very famous for the delicious “lardo”.
The walk starts in Colonnata and climb to the ancient
village of Vergheto (850 m), a beautiful view point
on the mountains all around. Then we walk back to
Colonnata, where is possible to taste the famous “lardo”
in one of the little restaurant.

| 4. Pania della croce
The Mt Pania della Croce is considered the Queen
of Apuane Alps and is also a wonderful walking tour.
The walk starts in Piglionico (1150 mt) to reach
Refuge Rossi (1609 mt), set in a nice panoramic point
(1,30 h walking).
Here we have a rest, and then we climb to the peak
of Pania (1858 mt), a magnificent view point on Apuane
Alps, with the sea far away (1 h).
On the way back we can visit the Vetricia Plateau,
a karstic area near Ref. Rossi.

| 5. M. Sumbra (1764 m)
Various and spectacular walking tour, though grassy
slopes, ancient abandoned villages, beech woods and
great rocky faces to Mt. Sumbra, considered one of
the most beautiful of Apuane.
The walk starts in Vianova (1070 mt) and climb through
a deep green woods to a beautiful panoramic spot (1,30
h). Then we reach the peak of Mt Sumbra, a magnificent
view point on Apuane Alps, with the sea far away.

| 6. M. Forato (1223 m)
Nice walking to the huge natural
rocky arch.
We start from Stazzema (600 m) and follow the path
to Foce delle Porchette (982 m) and to Mt. Forato
(1223 m). Then we come back on the same way.

| 7. M. Altissimo
Mt. Altissimo has deep and impressive slopes on which
marble quarries have been carved by the hard and dangerous
work of men. An itinerary of “marble archaeology”,
in one of the best preserved old quarries of Apuane.
We start from La Polla (500 m) and we walk on a marble
white street to the ancient quarries of Tacca Bianca
(1000 m). Along the way we also visit a marble quarry
of few years ago, not used anymore.

| 8. M. Corchia (1676 m)
Mt. Corchia is formed by marble, and in the inner
of the mountain there is one of the most important
karst cave of Italy, equipped with walkways. Wonderful
views from the top of the mountain.
From Fociomboli (1270 m) we walk to Refuge Del Freo
(1180 m) on a nice, easy and forested path. Then we
climb to the top of Mt. Corchia (1,30 h ) and descent
on the opposite face of the mountain. We come back
to the starting point walking on an old marble path.

| 9. Puntato
Easy and pleasure walking to the ancient little village
of Puntato in a sunny valley near Mt. Corchia and
Mt. Pania: prairies, chess-nut woods, and a little
wet-land, unique in this limestone area.
From Isola Santa (500 m) we walk to Colle di Favilla
(955 m) and to Puntato (986 m). Then we come back
following a different path.

| 10. M. Prana
Mt. Prana and Mt. Matanna are the southest mountains
of Apuane, near to Camaiore: nice and pleasure path
through chess-nut woods and prairies, with beautiful
views to the sea.
From Metato (408 m) we walk to Campo all’Orzo
and to the top of Mt. Prana (1221 m), walking trough
chess-nut wood and prairies. We come back on the same
way.

Nice and pleasure path through old paths and little villages in the hills near Camaiore.
